Psalms 85:10,11 - Coke's Commentary on the Holy Bible

Bible Comments

Mercy and truth, &c.— The favour and justice which God shewed his people, are considered as coming down from heaven, and meeting and embracing truth and prosperity, springing up from the earth: i.e. as soon as God is determined to shew favour to his people, they are immediately answered by prosperity and plenty, as a necessary consequence of the truth of God's promise. But in these two verses, in a more eminent manner is signified the reconciliation of God's justice and mercy, and the happy effects of it upon earth, at the coming of the Messiah.

Psalms 85:10-11

10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

11 Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.
