For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

Ready to be offered] To be poured out as a drink offering upon God's altar. a Thus the apostle expresseth himself emphatically, pathetically, elegantly, setting forth by what death he should glorify God, viz. by being beheaded. Whether my death be a burnt offering, a drinkoffering (by fire or sword), or a peace offering (that I die in my bed), I desire it may be a freewill offering, a sweet sacrifice to the Lord.
