For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.
Free from all men - i:e., independent of all men.
Gain the more - i:e., the greater number of them ("all men"). "Gain is appropriate in relation to a "reward;" he therefore repeats it (1 Corinthians 9:20-22).
