For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

Which is but for a moment, х to (G3588) parautika (G3910)] - 'which is but for the present passing moment.' Compare Matthew 11:30; also, "now for a season ... in heaviness" (1 Peter 1:6). The contrast is between this and the "ETERNAL ... glory." Also, 'the lightness of affliction' ('burden is not expressed after 'light': the Greek is 'the light of affliction') contrasts beautifully with the 'weight of the glory.' Hebrew idiom connects gravity with glory х kabowd (H3519)].

Worketh - rather, 'worketh out.'

A far more exceeding and - `more and more exceedingly' (Ellicott) х kath' (G2596) huperboleen (G5236) eis (G1519) huperboleen (G5236) 'in excess and to excess'] The glory exceeds beyond all measure the affliction.
