The children of Pahath-moab, of the children of Jeshua and Joab, two thousand eight hundred and twelve.

The children of Pahath-moab, х Pachat-Mow'aab (H6355), prefect of Moab; Septuagint, Faath Mooab]. 'The origin of this singular name is perhaps traceable to an ancestor who had dominion in Moab (1 Chronicles 4:22, of 1 Chronicles 2:54; 1 Chronicles 4:4), and from him it continued to be traditionally bestowed upon his family. Their high rank in the tribe of Judah is indicated by their being placed fourth in the order of this catalogue, and second in the signing (Nehemiah 10:14).
