Job 37:23 - Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible

Bible Comments

Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict. Afflict - oppressively, so as to 'pervert judgment,' as Job implied (note, Job 8:3); but see end of note, Job 21:1-34, above х lo' (H3808) yª`aneh (H6031)]. The reading, 'He answereth not' х low' (H3808) ya`ªneh (H6030)] - i:e., gives no account of His dealings-is like a transcriber's correction, from Job 33:13, margin. It is supported by some manuscripts of DeRossi, by the Septuagint, Vulgate, Syriac, and Gesenius.
