Psalms 142:7 - Coke's Commentary on the Holy Bible

Bible Comments

I cried unto thee, O Lord, &c.— He applies himself to God to rescue him out of this prison, the cave wherein he was concealed. I have said, &c. "I have solemnly devoted myself to thee, as my God and only refuge; hearken therefore, &c." A way of speaking very common in the psalms. Mudge.

Psalms 142:5-7

5 I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

6 Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.

7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.
